Dogs never cease to amaze us, but this Chi mom goes above and beyond everything we could’ve imagined!
When they first met Laugh Out Loud, her rescuers expected her to deliver a litter of puppies, but what no one could have guessed was how many.
Before she went into 12-hour-long labour while staying at her foster home in Olathe, Kansas, her caregivers expected her to give birth to no more than four to five puppies, as Chis normally don’t have large litters.
But, when she delivered her last baby, everybody was in shock, realizing that she might just become a record-breaking mom – with 11 tiny babies delivered in total!
Delivering The Babies On National Puppy Day
Laugh Out Loud (LOL), the pregnant Chihuahua was saved from a hoarding situation in Kansas City. Her previous owners surrendered her, alongside numerous other canines, to the rescue.
From that moment on, Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption, from Mission, Kansas, became LOL’s other home, but since she was admitted “full-blown pregnant,” they made sure to find her a foster home so she could give birth comfortably.
What the shelter staff and her foster mom, Josie, couldn’t know at the time was that LOL was about to deliver a record-breaking litter of Chi puppies!
And, for things to be even more spectacular – she delivered her babies on National Puppy Day, giving this whole situation a special meaning!
Even though the first five puppies came out, her belly was still big, and she was bulbous, and it was more than obvious that there were more puppies to come.
At first, her foster mom thought the total number of puppies was 10, but when she did a recount, she realized that LOL gave birth to 8 boys and 3 girls – 11 puppies in total.
“Foster mom Josie got the puppies out to check genders. When she ended up with 8 boys and 3 girls, she realized something didn’t add up!! She quickly recounted several times and realized she was indeed correct— “LOL” had 11 puppies,” the UPRA team wrote.
Danielle Reno, the president of the rescue, was more than happy to confirm that all of the puppies were born healthy and that the mom was doing okay after 12-hour-long labour.
Even though this isn’t the largest dog litter in the world, it sure is the biggest Chihuahua litter on record.
Going To Amazing Furever Homes
The great news is that LOL and all of her puppies soon found their furever homes! After the puppies reached their 10-week milestone, they were safely transferred to their new families.
LOL, too, has found the pawfect home she deserved all along!
After being so protective and caring of her pups, this sweet mama could finally relax in a new home, and embark on a wonderful journey with her new family.
We’re pawsitive that LOL is doing great in her new home, and that she takes on her daily adventures like a true champ! After all – she is a world record holder!
